Every morning I eat an Orange. I have learned a few things from this practice.

  • Oranges are remarkable. They sort themselves into slices, they keep you healthy, they are made of thousands of tiny juice balloons, they give you energy, and taste wonderful.
  • Our lives are filled to the brim with beautiful things. The inside of every orange, is totally unique. It is a chaotic pattern of color and texture and water and fibers. Many things are like this, simple when not given the attention they deserve, but wonderfully complex when occupying your full attention.
  • Purposefully seeking beautiful things makes life better. Life will always be difficult and a bit ugly in one way or another, but we have the wonderful gift of being able to choose what to pay attention to. If you seek beauty, even in Oranges, it will be there to greet you. Life without these moments of beauty is harder than it needs to be. Finding them is easy.

They are also a great source of Vitamin C.
